We will hold a seminar titled "Understanding Speech Generation AI and the Current State of Voice Protection from Scratch"

Event Outline
This introductory seminar will be led by attorney Kotaro Tanabe, who specializes in legal matters related to content fields such as anime, manga, games, and VTubers, and currently works part-time at the Cabinet Office Intellectual Property Strategy Promotion Office. The seminar will provide a ground-up explanation of the current state of voice generation AI and voice protection for voice actors, voice acting agencies, and those involved in content production such as anime and games.
It's been a few years since the issue of generative AI and voices began to be discussed in various places.
"Voice" is an irreplaceable asset in the content business, and is also one element that makes up a person's identity.
We hope that you will take this opportunity to learn about the current state of generative AI and voice protection, and to keep an eye on future trends.

We will explain the basics in as comprehensive a way as possible, covering the current trends, copyright, the Unfair Competition Prevention Act, publicity rights, and personality rights.
Part 12: Overseas Edition December 10, 2025 (Wednesday)
We plan to go a step further from the first Japan edition and cover the latest trends in the US, Europe and China.
In addition, we will be inviting Yoshinori Kurata, Representative Director of the Japan Voice AI Learning Data Authentication Service Organization (AILAS), a general incorporated association, as an online guest to discuss technical matters.

Representative Director of the Japan Voice AI Learning Data Authentication Service Organization (AILAS)
[Biography]
Graduated from the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, University of Tsukuba
Conversational robot developer/voice AI developer
After working on the development of "AIBO" and the bipedal robot "QRIO" at Sony Corporation's Entertainment Robot Company, he has served as manager of the Technology Strategy Office of the Network Services Group and manager of the Agent Planning and Development Office at Sony Mobile Communications Inc. He conceived and developed "Mezamashi Manager Asuna," which utilizes the voice AI of an anime character, and achieved 100 million downloads. He won the Digital Signage Award Technology Award for the development of virtual announcer "Sawamura Aoi." He is currently a fellow at Toshiba Digital Solutions Corporation and is the representative director of the Entertainment Robot Forum.
In 2024, he established "AILAS," the only organization of voice AI developers in Japan, with the aim of "realizing a system that respects the right of humans and AI to coexist." He has been holding repeated discussions with related industries and is actively engaged in concrete activities.
TANABE Kotaro
As a fan of anime, manga, and games, he mainly handles intellectual property law (patents, copyrights, trademarks, etc.) focusing on various legal issues in the character business field (anime, manga, games, distribution services, VTubers, metaverse, generative AI, etc.) and the video business field (movies, entertainment, music, advertising, etc.). In parallel with his work as a lawyer, he also works as a part-time assistant counselor at the Cabinet Office Intellectual Property Strategy Promotion Office, where he is mainly involved in work related to intellectual property rights and AI, as well as anti-piracy measures.
He is an auditor at the Japan Voice AI Learning Data Authentication Service Organization (AILAS), a general incorporated association, and heads "Character-Business and Law," a legal consultation service for people involved in the character business.
